3 Pillars: Old-New Comic Page by karniz 3 Pillars: Old-New Comic Page by karniz

Series: 3 Pillars: Old-New Pages.
From: 3 Pillars

Hellohello!
I've decided as a little project for myself... I wanted to re-illustrate the pages from the first issue of 3 Pillars! [my original comic story.]

So this page is actually consisted of ONE comic panel, my pacing in the past wasn't so great... so now I am capable of making the comics flow similar to a movie? [as a friend described! I love it!]

So yes, please tell me what you think~
If you want to see what the page came from, view it at 3 Pillars under the first issue, and it's Page 10.

i dunno why i did remember in some way to Ashley Wood "style" at MGS Portable Ops when i saw this comic page... the cinematic style is 100% correct... in the last part of the page, i liked the way how the background and the character becomes "one", but differents at the same time. well, i'm not an expert at comics but is very impressive, you have a lot of talent. and btw, the website is so great... so simple, but grateful to the eyes.

keep drawing girl.

I believe I know which comic you are talking about... Ashley Wood sort of stylizes on the Metal Gear's artist Yoji Shinkawa's style? right? hehe.
but thank you, hehe, I try very hard to make sure my comics entertain the eyes. ^^

hehe, not ALL of it... unfortunately.
I'll pick my favorite parts of the comic... for instance, Kirsche's first meeting with Azul, and her meeting with Geld and such... but I won't be redoing the entire comic, just snippets... xD
hehe, I was looking at the "newer" of the old pages.. like Chapter 03, issue 02... goodness, I LOOOVED word balloons... hehehehe!
but yes, more to come~!

Hahaha, reading the comic then looking through the profiles with the characters updated is definitely eye candy to the max. So was the entire comic finished? I'm curious to see more! XDDD;;; I read the first chapter/issue!

APFEL AND SABUL LOOK SO NEAT! XD;;; Gwaaah!

Hehe, in the comic page I actually listed how many pages are in each chapter... just lil details like that... ^^
But no, 3 Pillars wasn't actually finished... every Chapter has ten issues, and I neded Chapter 03 with only four issues [where the fourth one wasn't actually completed... it is pencilled in it's entirety but I am going back and simple-inking it now... ^^]

HEHE... it's funny to see so many people like Kirsche and Luz's parents this time around in 3III! When I used to have the site up, noone paid them any attention... hehe, I guess it's because I made Sabel hothothot... ^^ ;;

Yeah, and I'm going to be uploading issue 02 soon... maybe tonight? xD

I guess it would be obvious to say that you have improved a lot? XD;;

Looking back at your old comics (gawd, I remember seeing them when I was in junior high!) I can see that you began your comic with a lot of focus on the faces and less background work. At least you worked on some of the perspectives even then; but with the more detailed scenary you have now, it flows better. Also, you learned to use less panels and even none to add that cinematic effect of darkness and being entrapped.

Blah blah blah talking too much nonesense blah blah you are amazing blah blah blah...

Still, looking back at your eight or so year old comic...I'm still amazed how good you were. Looking back at my own 8 year old picture, I wanted to throw up. XD;;;

And of course, you are even greater now. Can't wait to see the rest of the pages. :3

yeah... one of the things I hate in today's comics is people's focus on the FACE, and no backgrounds... I can say that later in 3 Pillars I zoomed out more, made the variance in the panels and even from the beginning... I've always had backgrounds.
I hate not seeing backgrounds...
but yes, now I focus on backgrounds too, a lot, I love doing backgrounds... especially interior and nature... they're my strongpoints!
[go see Tiger-CRASH... there's a bunch of good interior backgrounds like in pages five and six. xD]

PFFTTT... one thing I havn't been able to catch is CUTE drawings... and you definitally had a knack for drawing the cute stuff!!!
I would LOVE... LOVELOVELOVE to have some Nyu fanart one day...hehe.

It's easier to draw the faces; thus why many focus onto the faces instead of the backgrounds. X3;;; (And I do that too...)
Knowing how to draw different perspectives and backgrounds makes a big difference in a comic. Good thing you like working on those things when usually people get tired of it and try to work on the easier way. :B;;
Looked at the pages, and I see it was really nicely done. It would have taken me days to do a single page like that... @__@;; *horrid with backgrounds*

I remember how I always used to draw chibis (since that's all I knew how to "draw") and we did a little tradeoff where I try to draw a non-chibi and you had to try drawing one. X3;;;
Is that a subtle hint for fanart...? :B
I should try drawing the old Nyu, wearing Cherry's clothing... X3;;

hehe, yeah, I looove backgrounds... and y'know what's funny? I don't even consider faces to be the easiest part of drawing a person... I prefer the body itself. With faces... you gotta worry about the eye placement, and making sure it's all straight when they're looking head-on [one of my weaknesses.. -_- ;;] but with the body, it flows nicely... so it's much easier for me to draw... ^^ ;;
hehe, but I still love your comics, they are unique in their own sense! I cant grasp humor like you do, so you get brownie points for THAT my friend! Mwaha!

WE DID DO A TRADEOFF!? eeeeee... I need to plummet through ALL of my old oekaki's... I FOUND the one of YOU that I drew! [how cuuute!] but yes, I couldnt find anything else... /sad.

And yes, my subtle hint for faaanaarrttt... heh. ::huggles::

Bodies are my WEAKEST points, right along with backgrounds, shading, and coloring. XD;;;
Faces tends to be easier for me, since that is all I doodle on focus on (bad of me, I know). Then again, the most I draw is that blob-faced cat...and you really don't need to worry too much with the eye placement there. XD;;;;;;

The tradeoff was looooooong ago, and really...you wouldn't want to see them, along with my other old pictures. It'll rot your eeeeeyyyyeeeezzzz.... XO
And, the picture that you drew for me is the one that I linked, ne? I don't think you drew more than the ones I have. O.o

I shall look into it...again, I'm horrid with drawing humans. :B;;;

HEHE! But doing the cute styled comics like you do definitally takes charm as well! I cannot handle that... unfortunately...
I giggle all the time looking at your webcam post... for some reason the expression always makes me giggle~~~
[and I cannot achieve that level of cute or adorable... unfortunately... -_-]

yes, definately a cinematic flow here. gorgeous lineart and subtle digital editing. very lovely :D have you ever heard of Scott McCloud's "Understanding Comics"? you might be interested in what that book has to offer about pacing and transitions, and it's a really great book anyways x3 yay, so happy to see 3pillars revived!

hehe, actually one of my teachers when I went to Joe Kubert [one of the ONLY ones I liked...] showed me that book, and I read it thoroughly... so yeah, hehe. I studied flow of pages and that's one of the things my teachers praised about me... but also when illustrating the pages, I picture them in my head like a movie... with different perspectives on the angle so I would know myself which looked best and paced the story well... hehe.

Yesyes... only more to come! ::huggles::
