So, since I'm still all gung-HO for Punch-Out!! [God, muscular men hitting eachother all the good ol' day, how much more FUN could I have?! ohohohoho...] here's some more SERIOUS FAN ART of it! Oh ho ho ho ho ho!

Now, gotta do a bit of backstory...
Like, a week or so ago my sister bribedbegged me to do a picture of Super Macho Man fighting Soda... with Mr. Sandman and Aran Ryan holding their respective... err... [not in a dirty way hur hur yeah right] "partners" back. So I wanted, in a sense, to do a REAL art for it, since I just love the World Circuit so much. ♥

but yeah, instead of them donning their usual boxing gear, wouldn't it be fun if they were on some Los Angeles street instead!?!

Super Macho Man with Mr. Sandman heading to his car, about to hop to another club or something... As they get ready and speed off - BOOM, Soda [and Aran, inebriated, and being hoisted on his burly friend's back] whom they almost just hit, are just crossing the street. Soda slams his hands on the hood of the car, and how they all only know how to act in public, they FIGHT.
Ha ha ha!

I enjoy drawing Punch-Out!! fanart WAYYY too much. Hehe.

So, I should talk about the art too, right? Hehe. Simple cel-shading, some hilights... the background's perspective is a bit off... I don't really like to draw backgrounds 100% digitally since I can't get it spot-on... but oh well. Enjoy it for what it is! Hahahaha... I love abusing the skewed perspective... ANYWAY.

ENJOY!

It's not gold and purple and glittering - so it's not SMM's. Kehehe...

I don't think that these guys drive themselves around either.
They get chauffeured or they take the bus [like Aran].

ya know... I've always wanted to see what the punch out guys looke in normal clothes, and youve done an impressive job capturing that, and showing that there is a life outside the ring.

nice!

I have got to give you props.

You may say you're bad at storytelling, but this image alone tells a story with poses and actions. It's an excellent "snapshot" which really tells not just the current situation, but hints as to each individual's behaviours and reactions to life.

The contrast of Mr. Sandman telling Macho to cool it, and Aran drunkenly trying to provoke anything is excellent.

Colouring and lines are well done as always. The angle and slight distortion is an interesting effect. It doesn't detract, and gives it a neat view.

Another fine work of gaming fanart, milady.

hehe, your kind words are too gracious!
And I never said that I'm "bad a storytelling", I'm just not a writer.
[Instead of writing I explain things better as illustration, that's my storytelling! hehe.]

You know...a Punch Out comic might be an interesting investment for Nintendo.

I'd certainly buy into the continuing adventures of Don Flamenco and Disco Kid and the rest (not Little Mac though. Kid has the personality of a pet rock).

By the way I especially love the angle you put these guys at and just the care taken into their positions relative to each other. Top shelf!

Funny you mention a comic... have you seen my Punch Out comic? [link] hahaha!
It's done sort of hastily, and crudely put together... but the writing is top-notch [good writers behind a comic artist is always a plus..]
For some reason yer not the first person to mention a Punch-Out Comic... I would totally be up for it. But alas - that's if Nintendo ever get's a look at my meager gallery. ^^

And thanks a lot for the lovely comment. ♥

I'll definitely have to check it out!

By the way, far be it for me to make suggestions to an artist...but have considered submitting a portfolio of your work (Punch Out) stuff especially to UDON?

They publish alot of the Capcom-property related comics and they might be interested in a new property to pursue.

Just a thought. I'd love to see you get some more recognition!

Oh good lordy, I don't think I could ever join the ranks of UDON, not at all... It would be neat, but not possible... haha!
Trust me, I would love to create a portfolio and submit to... well, ANYWHERE, but I lack the free time to work on new material.. heh.

Stop. Right. There.

That's some serious self-defeating talk you've got going on.
I'm not an artist. I'm just a fan of good artwork and a comic geek. But even I can see great potential in you.

I hope that you start seeing that in yourself.

Will you allow me to tell a story?:

A young man entered a boxing gym, hoping to train as a fighter. He was laughed out of the gym because he was seen as having a body too big and lanky to be effective as a boxer.

After awhile the young man began to believe it, and began to tell himself that he wasn't cut out to be a prize fighter.

But a trainer named Emanuel Steward saw otherwise. He taught him to use his long reach to surprise and disrupt his opponent's rhythm. He helped the young man to unlock his potential.

The young man became a powerful knockout artist and won titles across several weight classes.

That young man was Tommy "Hitman" Hearns.

He once said:

"Until you take the first swing at the other guy, you never know if you'll leave wearing his belt."

Now the free time issue? That I can understand.

But never sell yourself short, Karniz. You are way better than that. Okay?

hehehehe, goodness, thank you for the unexpected but wonderfully enlightening story!
I'm not trying to be self-defeating... unfortunately for me - I'm a realist. I don't have all of the time in the world to work on projects and art as much as I wished I could...
I wake at 6AM, goto work, come home around 6PM, cook dinner, spend time w/ boyfriend and play with my dogs... then suddenly it's 8PM and I know in about four hours I need to try and goto sleep... and repeat process: that's my weekly day-to-day...
Now, if I could just get some more dedicated time to work on things [I'm a terrible writer, so I mostly rely on my sister to write amazing stories for me, since I'm primarily aiming to be a comic book artist...] like extending a regular day from 24-hour to 76-hour - I'd be set! Hahah!

But I'm being a realist about UDON... I don't think I could make it into those ranks yet... I've never been quite keen on the Street Fighter series [more of a Soul Caliber girl myself... ohohoho.] but I would absolutely consider joining any other smallish art groups... sad part is, I don't know of many that exsist that openly take on new members that aren't already friends of the members and such. It's sort of being stuck between a rock and a hard place, 'cept that it's internet art limbo! Haha.

I hope I made some sense... I'm really tired. XD
[And I really appreciate this conversation, really~]

I understand and I appreciate your patience (I tend to shift into 'motivational speaker' mode at the drop of a hat).

All I am saying, is that you should never give up.

You have the touch, the artistic spark, and (judging by our conversation) the heart, to make it.

Remember: People laughed at O'Malley when he made "Scott Pilgrim". Nearly six years later....they stopped laughing, when it was made into a movie and he was given several prestigious awards.

I leave you now with the words of St. Francis of Assisi:

"Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible."

A fight amongst members of the highest circuit. I can sence a hint of 'fighting over the crown' in here, as well as the hostility of gang fighting. I also like how you encorperate the humor, with the piggy-back action as well as a passerby Bull (usually, I thought he would be in the brawl just for the fun of it.). I also see a pinch of "devil on your shoulder" with both partners.

Really good job here.
